One of the more interesting features of the internet are a class of interactive, text-based role-playing games (RPG's) called Multi-User Dimensions, or MUD's. My favorite MUD's are Brazilian Dreams (sadly, now defunct) where I played a jaguar named Jade Shadow, and FurryMUCK where I play a character called Tim_Kangaroo (re: Tim K. and Becky C.).
MUDs have interested me enough that I have written a MUD client program called MUDSOCK. MUDSOCK works with FurryMUCK, Brazilian Dreams, and similar MUD-type games. It runs under Microsoft WindowsTM and uses WinSock. MUDSOCK works like a Telnet program only with enhancements that make MUD-ding a little easier. I'm still in the process of developing the software, but you are welcome to try it out.
Before I wrote MUDSOCK, I first created MUDCOMM. MUDCOMM also runs under Windows, but it works like a regular Communications program. It does not use WinSock and was developed for non-SLIP modem connections. I no longer support development on MUDCOMM, but you are also welcome to try it out, too.
If you would like to find out more about MUDSOCK, then check out the MUDSOCK Home Page.
