A blatant example of the deliberate misinformation we are being fed on the U.S./NATO war on Yugoslavia are some of the excuses NATO has floated for their accidental bombing of the Chinese embassy in Begrade on 8 May. ABC News reported:
Careful to avoid making excuses, NATO military
spokesman General Walter Jertz said NATO went after
the target because it thought it was the weapons
warehouse of the Federal Directorate for Supply and
Procurement.
"We have not only the map of Belgrade as an
intelligence source. We have all different kinds of
intelligence which gives us the best, most precise
information there could be. And we did not go after an
embassy," the Air Force general added.
British defense analyst Chris Bellamy said on Sky
Television that there was a possibility that alliance planners
were indeed misled, raising the "intriguing possibility" that
NATO intelligence had been drawn into targeting the
"worst possible target for it to hit from a diplomatic point
of view" by an agent of the Yugsoslav government.
"If that was the result of some corruption of those
intelligence sources, then it was a very smart move by the
Yugoslav authorities," the analyst added.
(ABC News, 9 May)
Whether the bombings were purely a mistake or the result
of deliberate misinformation is the subject of an urgent
NATO investigation.
After all, these "smart" weapons cannot possibly fail, therefore it must have been a deliberate act of sabotage. The only "intriguing possibility" here is whether or not people will actually believe this pathetic excuse for military incompetance on the part of NATO.
The Associated Press, on the other hand, reported that the accident was the result of a CIA mistake. If this is true, then getting the spooks involved in yet another illegal war adds a more troubling dimension to this conflict. Specifically, why is the CIA Goon Squad involved in what is supposed to be a "NATO" operation?
The answer, of course, is that this is another lie -- the biggest one of all. This is no NATO operation. Unlike Reagan's proxy wars in Central America, the U.S. military is directly involved and U.S. leaders are calling the shots in this "dirty war." Calling this a NATO operation gives cover to timid European politicians who once stood up to U.S.-sponsored aggression in Nicaragua and El Salvador, but who now are content to let the U.S. do their dirty work in the Balkans. However, just like Reagan's wars, the goal is the same: To further extend U.S. military, economic and political dominance. To this end, the CIA assisted the death squads in El Salvador, the juntas in Guatemala and the terrorists in Nicaragua. So it is not surprising that they are involved in destroying the people of yet another nation. Along with the U.S. military, they are the enforcement arm of a brutal New World Order.
